    Flying Scotsman Treat.

On Wednesday 6th September 2017 i was lucky enough to be treated to a Fish & Chip supper on the World Famous Flying Scotsman from a couple of really good friends, when they found out this engine was visiting their town of Watchet in Somerset they booked the tickets for this event, I never thought in my wildest dreams I would get a ride behind the most famous steam engine in the world, the engine was there all week so I had plenty of time to photograph it.

Traveler's Free Pass—Start Waggling the Magic Thumb!

The printing on the outside of this card claims that it's an Official Free Pass Good on All Lines of the A.H.H. & W.W.A., which makes it sound like it's a free railroad pass.

When the card is opened, however, a specially constructed "magic thumb" pops up above the edge, revealing that the "A.H.H. & W.W.A." isn't actually a railway line. Instead, the initials stand for the "American Hitch-Hiker and Weary-Walker Association."

To use the "free pass," of course, you have to "start waggling the magic thumb" on your own hand in order to hitch a ride from a passing motorist.

    Traveler's Free Pass

Issued by authority of the American Hitch-Hiker and Weary-Walker Association.

    Fellow travelers! What a pass!
No tickets to buy, no tires, no gas!
Whenever you want to go or come--
Just start waggling the magic thumb!

Tom Jones Tickets Cheap - It Was The Panties That Burned

45-YEARS AGO IN WINDSOR, ONTARIO .... It wasn't the $9.50 ticket price that took a bite, it was the cost of buying enough panties to fill your purse. Back in 1972 Tom Jones was still the "It" boy. He had a string of number one songs stretching back to his 1965 breakout hit: It Is Not Unusual. Thunderball. What's New Pussycat, Delilah and so on.Check your parents LPs for the complete list!
Anyway Tom was tireless performers. Big Arenas. Small Clubs. Everything in between. When he worked the small clubs it was considered good form for the mostly women audience to stand up and take down their knickers and throw them at Tom (beats what used to happen to the Beatles - everyone threw jelly beans at Ringo after he claimed it was his favourite snack).
Tom would pick up the panties and wipe the sweat off his face. My wife bought these tickets and took her parents to see Tom Jones at the late great Elmwood Casino in Windsor. She remembers that most women took extra panties in their purse or wore two or three layers of panties to the show, so, Tom actually got relatively fresh (but usually really cheap) bloomers tossed his way!
The Casino was a hot spot in the 60s and 70s catering to rich Detroiters who found Windsor a safe and cheap place to party. The casino was built by entrepreneur Al Siegel who had a dream of owning a gambling joint in Windsor (he was three decade early). He built the Windsor Race Track and the Elmwood Casino. The Elmwood building still stands, it is the Brentwood Recovery Centre.
