Long view down to the remodeled pharmacy

And finally, to close out the December 13th photos from the Southaven Sam's Club: a view straight down the aisle to the remodeled pharmacy. For whatever reason, the health care aisles aren't really all that crowded most days I visit the place, though I like to avoid coming here on weekends whenever possible, and doubly so at Christmas time!

Future café counter, yet to be uncovered

This was the view as of December 13, 2017, looking from the check lane area at the café remodel wall. In the distance: a glimpse of the Wednesday afternoon, pre-Chistmas crowd, waiting to exit.

    Southaven Sam's Club -- fully-stocked floral counter-island

Thought I'd lead off the last day of Southaven Sam's Club remodel update photos with this finished view of the nice new (and somewhat unexpected) addition: the floral counter! The new lighting overhead completes the scene here, and I like that the light fixtures aren't uber-thin, and oh-so modern looking (kind of like the new café seating tables seen yesterday are)!

    Two new small coffin cases

Moving up the aisle from the new floral area, we see the same style new lighting from the previous photo over a couple of new small cases, which are no doubt the replacements for these two, as seen by Retail Retell back toward the end of October 2017. Ironically, the older lighting looks more modern to me!

Peeking inside the new dairy cooler

Back at the end of November, the new dairy freezer looked like it's primary use was (oddly enough) Christmas tree storage, with a few other products mixed in. A couple weeks later, we see shelving had been installed, and even more odd items (including a partial pallet of monster-sized pizzas) had been shoved in there! There were questions about it even being operational back in mid-November, but for the sake of those pizzas, hopefully it was up and running by the time of this photo!

Looking out from the tire and battery area

I took several photos of the new café seating on December 13, but this was perhaps the most unique view I got. Someone was actually sitting at one of the new bar seats facing out toward the front main aisle, while we can see the other high table had no seats at all. On the whole, this stuff looks a quite a lot nicer than the dreaded plastic picnic tables that were here previously, even if it does seem a bit too Starbucks-y for a wholesale club!

More of the srevice department area goes under the mysterious remodel covering...

Surprisingly, the bakery counter (and I believe meat counter as well) were imprisoned behind a remodel wall as well by December 13, 2017. Per Retail Retell, I believe this was a quite new occurrence at the time. One would of thought they would unveil the new fresh island before starting on this area, but maybe this means the fresh island was very close to being completed...

Peeking into the new fresh island area

The café seating area at the Southaven Sam's Club won't be the only section of the store with a commanding, upper red stripe. We can see part of a similar stripe peeking through here, at the right side of the new fresh island.

What lurks behind the new café food prep area window!??

Back in late November 2017, these new windows were still covered over. While I was here on the afternoon of December 13, there was a worker or two spotted on the other side of the windows as well, but the photo I got of that scene didn't turn out good enough to post.

In remembrance - the original overhead produce sign

This still isn't a really good closeup of the old produce sign, but at least a lot better than the only other one I've managed to upload. I finally got around to posting this, since I happened to (by accident!) get a photo from a very similar vantage point on the last visit, which will immediately follow...

New dairy cooler, being prepped for customers

And here's the same view as the previous photo, roughly two and a half months later, where sadly we can no longer see any trace of the original produce ghost lettering. As it stood at the time of this photo, the view was certainly a lot more industrial/wholesale club looking - for better or worse. It'll be *really* insulting to see that classic old sign replaced with one of the goofy new signs (only "dairy" instead of "produce" in this case, of course).

It's been assumed this new replacement cooler is larger, but I'm not sure it's really a *whole* lot larger actually! It's likely much more efficient though, and therefore, even colder than the produce cooler it replaced. Either way, it still wasn't open to the public as of mid-December 2017, but (as we'll see in a later photo), it was starting to be prepared for those customers that don't mind the bone-chilling experience of in-cooler dairy products shopping!

Welcome to the new Southaven Sam's Club café seating area (or at least it's back wall)!

Time for what has now become a monthly flickr ritual of mine - another Southaven Sam's Club remodel update. And since this week between the Christmas and New Year's holidays is really short (only three "normal", 4 photos per day uploads from me), might as well devote all three days to the remodel! Since mid-November, the back wall of the café seating area has been redone with a new, wide red stripe at the top. Gone is the Helen Walton quote (seen in the left portion of my linked photo, and close to being swallowed up by the remodel wall in the right portion of this more recent view by Retail Retell). I believe that quote was part of this area's previous major remodel, but could very well have been original to the store. I always thought it was kind of odd either way (though it did tie in with the other "community involvement" stuff on the wall). Odd or not, sad that it's now only a memory.

As for seating itself, take note of the ugly picnic table style seating in that last linked photo, since as we'll see later, it has now been (thankfully!) replaced. (can't see the new seating too good in this photo...)

Water anyone? I think these cases have gotten bigger, as I thought they used to be 40 bottles instead of 45. I'd love to make a prank display of these with multipacks of 200 bottles for $10.92. And then see if people would still buy them despite the case weighing 100kg/220lbs! Of course these 45 packs already weigh in about 22kg/50lbs.

It hasta be Shasta Variety flats of Shasta soda on display at Sams Club. Shasta used to a common brand in the Twin Cities market with most grocery stores offering it. Now it seems only Menards carries the full line.
