    After people finish with their merit making activities, they tend to leave their stuff behind. In the past, this wasn't such a big deal because most of the materials were biodegradable. Now they use a lot of plastic such as the white bowls and decorations in the item pictured here, which was left in the Mekong River. Do they lose whatever merit they have made because of their destructive influence on the environment?
